Setting Up Your Studio
Configure your studio settings including work hours, currency, and branding to get MakeFlow ready for your workflow.
Setting Up Your Studio
Before you start managing orders and inventory, let’s configure your studio settings. This ensures MakeFlow calculates timelines and costs accurately for your specific workflow.
Accessing Studio Settings
- Click your profile icon in the top right
- Select Studio Settings from the dropdown
- You’ll see several tabs: General, Branding, Inventory, and API Keys
General Settings
Studio Name
This is how your studio appears throughout MakeFlow and on any generated documents.
Example: “Clay & Co Ceramics” or “Woodcraft Workshop”
Currency
Select the currency you use for pricing and expenses.
Supported currencies: EUR (€), GBP (£), USD ($), CAD ($), AUD ($)
Note: Currency settings affect how prices are displayed and calculated throughout the platform.
Work Hours Per Day
This is crucial for order health calculations and timeline estimates.
Enter your average productive work hours per day. For example:
- Full-time studio: 6-8 hours
- Part-time studio: 3-4 hours
- Weekend maker: 4-6 hours (on working days)
MakeFlow uses this to calculate how long orders will take based on estimated build times. If a product takes 12 hours to make and you work 6 hours per day, MakeFlow knows it will take 2 working days.
Branding Settings
Studio Logo
Upload your logo to personalize your workspace and any generated documents (like invoices).
Recommended format: PNG with transparent background, minimum 200x200px
Brand Colors
Customize the color scheme for your studio’s documents and materials.
Inventory Settings
Low Stock Threshold
Set a quantity threshold for when materials are considered “low stock.”
Example: If you set this to 10, materials with quantities below 10 units will be flagged.
Material Alerts
Enable notifications when materials run low or are out of stock.
Advanced Settings
API Keys
Generate API keys if you want to integrate MakeFlow with external tools or use the MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration with AI assistants like Claude Desktop.
Security Note: API keys provide full access to your studio data. Keep them secure and never share them publicly.
Best Practices
Set Realistic Work Hours
Be honest about your actual productive hours. If you work 8 hours but only 6 are spent making, use 6 hours. This keeps timeline estimates accurate.
Choose Your Currency Carefully
Changing currency later won’t convert existing prices—it only changes how they’re displayed. Set this correctly from the start.
Keep Settings Updated
As your studio grows or your schedule changes, update these settings to maintain accurate calculations.
Next Steps
Once your studio is configured:
Troubleshooting
Q: Can I change my currency later? A: Yes, but existing prices won’t be converted. They’ll just display with the new currency symbol.
Q: What if my work hours vary by day? A: Use your average. MakeFlow doesn’t track individual days, so an average gives the best timeline estimates.
Q: How often should I update my settings? A: Review quarterly or whenever your workflow significantly changes (new space, different schedule, etc.).
